Abstract:
In the globalized era of today, things look both extraordinarily bright as well as dull for organizations in India. A majority of paradigms of conducting businesses locally and globally are being redefined and rewritten. Entrepreneurship has been variously described as ‘opportunity identification and exploitation’ (Shane and Venkatraman, 2000). It implies organizational creation, renewal and innovation whether in an existing business, in an institution dealing with public service or a new venture. Do the temples in India fit within the field of Entrepreneurship? Using the Case Study method, the paper attempts to address this question. In the light of the discussion involving theoretical and empirical contributions of the study, implications for further research are suggested.
