Railway signal is a very important item for
the operation of railways. For its visibility from
a distance, the signals are always fixed at different
heights. It is often necessary to climb
that height by the maintenance and lighting
staff for proper operation of the signals. It
is extremely difficult and often not possible to
carry a long ladder for this purpose since railway
tracks run through places far away from
residential localities. As such, it is customary
to have a permanently fixed metallic ladder
with signal post all along the railway tracks.
