Abstract:
. Product and its uses
The steep increase in the price of petrol and
the increase in the number of petrol vehicles on
road day by day have forced us to make the
optimum utilisation of even a drop of petrol so
as to get maximum mileage per litre. Apart from
having other precautions which 'may not be occurring
at short intervals of running of the
engine, it is recommended to have the spark
plugs which produce the spark for igniting the
fuel, to be regularly cleaned and tested for its
efficiency after every 1,000 KM normal run of
the vehicle. Because of the fact that during
running of the engine a lot of carbon gets accumulated
on the electrode sparking the fuel,
the intensity of the spark gets diminished and
therefore the complete combustion of the fuel
does not occur, thereby resulting in loss of kilometre
per litre of fuel consumed by the engine.
Until a few years ago the method employed
in the cleaning and testing of spark plugs for
its efficiency was very crude in the sense that
the cleaning work used to be done by scratching
the carbon with the help of a pointed needle
or blade and cleaning by a cloth. Since we can
no more depend upon approximate methods because
of the increased price of the fuel, the use
of mechanised methods for cleaning as well as
testing of the spark plug so as to know that
intensity of the spark developed is optimum has
become essential and therefore we find that the
use of spark plug cleaning-cum-testing machine
i: getting popular day by day.
