Abstract:
Entrepreneurship in India is evolving and maturing after the liberalization of the economy. In the context of globalization Indian entrepreneurs are showing their entrepreneurial skills in the global arena. Women entrepreneurs are also making their presence felt in the global world as well. In India, woman entrepreneurs are generally perceived to be in traditional, select, predictable and very often in small-scale sector. Of late Indian women are not only rising high in corporate executive ladder, but they are proving to be successful entrepreneurs in new, hitech, genetic engineering and emerging areas. Women of today are moving into traditional male bastions thus breaking the stereotype image of an Indian woman entrepreneur. A perfect example of this is - Dr. Kiran Majumdhar Shaw, CEO, BIOCON India. The present paper is an attempt to study the evolution in the growth of the women entrepreneurship in India taking the case of most successful woman entrepreneur of the country.
