dc.description.abstract Crime exists in India in various forms such as murder, extortion, drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud, human trafficking, poaching and prostitution etc. Research studies have been conducted in identifying and determining the factors responsible for increase in crime rate and concluded that political, economic and sociocultural factors continue to play a vital role in crime and crime control practices in India. Crime leads to loss and thereby Criminology (the study of crime and criminal behaviour) recommends solutions and helps in reducing the losses to the country, society, organisation or an individual. The available statistics can help us understand the magnitude of loss incurred by society at large due to criminal activities. This paper is an effort to explore the scope of Criminology in Entrepreneurship, which so far has been restricted to academics & academic research. It’s high time we should do a need based assessment and get the trained professional which in turn helps us to reduce our losses. These trained professionals may have immense opportunities to start their own ventures with a pool of similarly qualified or trained professionals which can provide their services to other enterprises, government agencies, educational institutions, or even the individuals so as to inculcate best practices in the organisation and society for better preparedness for crime prone situations and minimise their losses. en_US
