Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to understand the various Governmental Policies and Programmes and its role in
fostering Women Entrepreneurship in India. The paper adopts an exploratory research design capitalizing on
authentic and reliable secondary data through exhaustive studies of reputed journals/literatures, data sources
from private and government universities, Government official database and international
bodies/organizations. The findings presented in this paper will comprehensively list down the Central and
State Level Governmental Policies and Programmes for promoting women entrepreneurship in Indian for
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The study attempts to find out the possible gaps where new
programmes are to be designed and offered by the Government. The value addition of this research lies in
presenting a comprehensive review on understanding Governmental programs and policies adopted by
women entrepreneurs in India. The review will be to the extent of considering research
articles/journals/publications focusing primarily on regional (Central) and State-wise Governmental in
Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s) as primary focus of the study. Validation of the
Government policies and Programmes in a specific context can be studied further, for example, for promoting
/ targeting women entrepreneurs for different industrial / Business organizations / Sectors with different
educational background etc.
