Abstract:
Globalization of the Indian Economy has resulted increased in competition. In order to survive in the current
dynamic environment, organizations need to be innovative and come with the products that cater to the
wants of the customer in order to retain or achieve its competitive advantage for long term sustainability.
Firms should innovate constantly to improve their flexibility, competitiveness and reactivity. Such
competitive advantage can be attained through organization innovation which is popularly known as
Intrapreneurship, referred as employee initiatives in organizations to undertake something novel idea and
implement it, without being asked to do so. Many Multinational Corporations have come up with the
innovative products, processes or services through intrapreneurship. While a majority of research studies
have focused on the support factors that promote intrapreneurship, A very few have considered barriers
factors. The present study reviews the existing literature and explores the various barriers that hinder
intrapreneurship. The findings of the study will have implications for the various organizations who are
constantly striving to gain competitive advantage through innovation. Based on the discussion, implications
for further research will be discussed.
