Abstract:
The main objective of innovation since its inception has been to help human being live a comfortable life.
Moreover, apart from its usual definition of developing new product or process, the trajectory of innovation
plays quite a significant role in the development paradigm. However, besides its advantage in increasing
productivity and uplifting technological capabilities and accelerating growth of the nation, the incubation
process has significantly increased the job market in the developing economies like India and China. The
purpose of this paper is to outline the incubation innovation system of India. Furthermore, the study attempts
to identify and analyze the role and interactions between various actors and agencies conglomerate around the
technology incubation process. The study employs the framework of National System of Innovation (NSI) in
locating the association of different actors and agencies in influencing the innovation process. The proposed
study is one of the few in this category, especially while analyzing the technology business incubation (TBI)
in India. Besides, an in-depth analysis of the process of innovation at the incubation centres, the study also
provides a snapshot of technological incubation process in India and how it contributes to India’s innovation
system. In addition, the study besides analyzing the role and actors and agencies in the innovation incubation
process, also analyses the role of incubation in promoting innovation.
