Abstract:
Ring compressor is a garage tool used in the
fitting of rings on to the piston in the grooves
The lings are placed in the grooves on the
piston with the help of nose pliers etc. and then
the piston and rings are enclosed in the ring
compressor so as to make the correct positioning
of the ring. The rings are centred with the
help of a ratchet mechanism attached to the
ring compressor in order to have a uniform
calculated force. The tool has an automatic
friction brake and can be adjusted by turning
the two screws on either side of the ratchet
pawl. The tension can be increased and decreased
by turning the adjusting screws.
