Abstract:
This study aims at sowing a modern seed in India known as Crowdfunding a potential avenue for the finance
for start-ups and SME’s. This seed if sown flawlessly by making provisions and setting up a regulatory body
can reap ripe fruits for the economy of the country. To help in setting up the provisions SEBI can take cue
from the countries where crowdfunding has already proven as a success. This paper also helps in resolving the
first question as discussed in Annexure of the Consultation paper from SEBI. The research shows the
financial need of the start-ups is not getting satisfied with the existing funding avenues. Findings are
relevant for practitioners (educators, policy makers) and for future research. The findings of this research
would be of utmost use for the researchers who would like to carry their research forward on the same line.
