dc.description.abstract The country’s economic growth depends upon participation of women in economic activity especially in selfemployment through micro enterprise. But countries, like India where major chunk of population lives in rural area and have a male dominant society it is very difficult for a woman to establish and run her own enterprise. Women entrepreneurship in rural India has seen an emerging face through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and Government institution support. However, MSME (2014-15) report highlights that only 13.72 per cent female owned enterprise exist in India which explain the current scenario of entrepreneurship development. This paper focuses on identification of the challenges faced by women and organizations while implementing Women Entrepreneurship Development (WED) program in rural India. The study further highlights the way forward to mitigate those challenges and establish women enterprise. The findings will be useful for women association in rural area, policy makers, organizations working for women enterprise development program, academicians and research scholars. en_US
