SME Clusters of Gujarat

Abstract

This document on clusters in Gujarat is an attempt to bring the uniqueness of varied sectors on a common platform. Right from presenting the genesis of various clusters in Gujarat, the document has tried to give the readers a glimpse into the richness of Gujarat in terms of availability of natural resources, their effective canalization, aware entrepreneurs and a proactive system. The document has been prepared in a short time on the basis of interviews of entrepreneurs and officials of business associations. Existing literature, information available on-line and reports on clusters have also served as guidance material. No claim to intense research is made here. The document has been prepared under constant support and guidance of Mr. Maheshwar Sahu, Principal Secretary, Government ofGujarat, Industries and Mines Department. Mr. Arvind Agarwal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Government ofGujarat, led us through the project by im arting significant information and knowhow at every juncture.
