This article is an exploratory examination of how the Center for Creative Leadership's research in the field of leadership might add to the knowledge and hypotheses regarding leadership in family businesses. The goal is to outline strategies for developing leadership that practitioners might find useful in their work with families around succession opportunities. Additionally, the hope is to spark discussion and thinking around the possible application of a leadership development model to the successor generation in family businesses.
